Architect - Location Shanghai, China
• Responsible for assisting Senior Architect to develop a creative architectural concept design and detail designs to meet client needs brief requirements.
• Demonstrate an understanding of client’s needs in the aspect of architecture master planning and design requirements, assist PM and Senior Architect to document those needs into a client brief.
• Assist the Senior Architect with development of the concept design options, translating the architectural, and master planning component of the client brief into design consultant briefs, prepare the schematic / preliminary CAD drawings based on client brief for discussion with client and DI, work with the design consultants to create design outputs that meet the requirements of the client brief.
• Assists with the preparation and implementation of the project design schedule for the architectural content by working closely with the design team.
• Create Designs by taking agreed design options and developing the design documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules as required, coordinating the design with the outputs of the other design team members, to meet the client brief, code and regulation requirements.
• Review the preliminary drawings, tender drawings and construction drawings to ensure compliance with client brief, design intent, government code, regulation requirement and company guidelines. Identify and highlight and recommend options for resolution of any conflicts between client needs and codes/regulations to the PM or Senior Architect. Issue completed drawings in a manner that complies with agreed targets set with the PM and CM including tender packages and “Approved for Construction” (AFC) drawing issue. Ensure final revision drawings issued “As Constructed” for maintenance manuals.
• Participate in a Risk and Opportunity at Design (ROAD) session where areas of concern or ideas are identified and control strategies agreed or changes to the design agreed, ensure that agreed changes are made to the design solution.
• Ensure that current design outputs are communicated by establishing a document control system and maintaining a disciplined register with revision status so that all project team members utilise current project documentation.
• Create innovative sustainable & up to date design solutions by maintaining contact with suppliers, service providers and professional consultants to strengthen the knowledge of design and construction methods and construction materials. Identifying options for the re-use of recycled materials where appropriate. Identifying options for reducing energy use.
• Role Models Behaviours by understanding company culture and core values, develop and contribute to the design department, managing own career by reviewing performance with Senior Architect, setting own goals and establishing a Personal Career Plan and deliver on goals contained within their performance contract. Requirements
• Architect qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Moderate experience in design and design development of projects with emphasis on the coordination of the detail & construction documentation.
• Knowledge of national and local design codes.
• General knowledge of modern building materials, building services systems, and construction techniques.
• Computer literate with proficiency in AutoCAD, together with knowledge of Architectural presentation software such as 3D Max, Photoshop, Power point etc.
